Abstract

The present article is the result of a doctoral research which aims to develop a new socioeconomic index to measure the global sustainable development among countries. To achieve this purpose, five quantitative variables have been analyzed and categorized: natural capital (Environmental Performance Index (EPI)) and human capital (innovation (GII), creativity (GCII) and entrepreneurship (GEM)) in 105 considered countries through a global regional classification. The statistical study included simple multiple regression analysis which predicts in overall group value (index) for the variables. The investigation results have concluded that natural capital represents an indicator that has had mayor impact in most analyzed countries. None the less, the human capital demonstrates that the innovation index and entrepreneurship index have greater importance in the society. However, creativity is an indicator that hasn’t been well established yet in the contemporary society as a tool to social progress and efficacy in the green economy strategies.
